Birthday at the Mormon Mecca!

Yesterday was a great day! I can't believe that I am now 25 years old! Where did the time go?! I wouldn't have spent it any other way. We woke up and got ready for the day, and went and spent the gift card Brandon bought me for my birthday, and then we headed down to Salt Lake City to walk around temple square. We stopped at the Gateway to eat at our favorite restaurant Costa Vida, then drove to a place I knew we could go for free parking close to Temple Square. We went to the visitor's center to see the statue of the Christus, and then walked around a bit taking some pictures. We were able to make great time in getting to see the Joseph Smith movie for the 2nd time at the Legacy Theater at 4:30 and then went for a tour of the Lion and Beehive houses. I really needed to go and do something spiritual and enjoyable, and that made it the perfect afternoon! I am grateful for the cards and well wishes! Thank you!

Polka-Dots Galore!

We have finally gotten everything for decorating our "gender neutral" nursery! Since we still don't know about our nephew with the courts taking for-freakin-ever, we may soon be moving forward with the Utah Foster Care foundation in order to get another baby that might need some care! We wanted to spend money on something that could be for both a boy or a girl, and something that was fun as well. I have promised a few people that I would send pictures or post them so here is the finished product for now! What was great about most of the things we have gotten, is that they were a FABULOUS deal on Target's website, and the furniture came in a ALL in ONE box so that everything would match! LOVE IT! Let me know what you think!

In Celebration, We Made It to the Waterfall!

Saturday was Brandon's 26th Birthday! So now is that little moment in time that I want to take to express my love and appreciation to the love of my life! I love you Brandon and I am SO grateful to have you as my best friend in this life. You are such a patient and loving person! (Especially to live and put up with me!) You are my favorite person to hang out with, and you make me laugh almost constantly! I would have our marriage no other way!

To celebrate Brandon's birthday, we went for a hike up Taylor Canyon just above Ogden to a waterfall! The description of the hike was "moderate" in difficulty. Well let's just say that it totally kicked my butt! The first part isn't so bad, and then the rest is up a rocky hill! But what really helped was that most of the path was in the shade with the mountain stream running close by, or even right next to the path at most points! I thought I wasn't going to make it. I am so out of shape from being sick for a week and not running for a while. It was embarrassing when little kids and their older parents were passing us by on the way up. I didn't let that get me down though, I knew that I wanted to do this! Brandon was amazingly patient with me might I add! It was totally worth getting up there when we saw the waterfall! What a great way to be together!

After we got home we went to Garcia's in Layton, and then went to Marie Callendar's for Brandon to get a fat slice of his all time fave: coconut cream pie! What a great day!

To Idaho...HELL... and Back!

We went to Idaho for the 4th of July weekend! We went to the mountains in a Jeep, went for a beautiful train ride the next day and got mooned several times by the river rafters, rested Sunday, and packed up Monday morning to go camping in Hells Canyon for 2 days, and then came back Wednesday! And the entire time I was sick with a wicked sore throat!

While we were camping along the Snake River, Brandon water skied, we cliff jumped, I knee boarded, and for the first time I went fishing with Brandon & his dad! I caught 12 fish altogether! It was a blast!

As always, we had a great time just getting away from the big city and getting out to the "sticks". We had a small town 4th of July with an hour long fireworks presentation. We had more than enough laughs with my in laws. We had fun!

"I Can't Get No Satisfaction..."

Okay, so it was only earlier last month that there was a week where it was almost completely in the 50's. I was complaining then that it was too cold. I was quite cantankerous when it came to thinking that it was JUNE and it was that cool outside. Well it is now officially July, and I am roasting. I have this unrealistic thought that if I just leave my windows down just a bit when ever I park for interpreting appointments, that I will come out to a not so "my body is in a broiling oven" feeling when I get in to my car. This absolutely does NOT work, no matter how optimistic I try to be. I have tried everything from parking in the shade, parking in parking garages, etc. But it is all in vain. It is hotter than blue blazes outside. I now remember that it was a year ago this time of year when our A/C when out in both our apartment AND our car! I couldn't be anywhere except the grocery store with out roasting or melting into a puddle. So maybe I should be grateful that this year everything is working great...thus far. But I guess I am one of those people that just can't be completely satisfied with the weather. I love the sunshine, don't get me wrong, but it's a whole different story when you are melting in it.
